COLLECTION DATES FOR

CLEAN-UP PERIOD

The landfill site on the Trans Canada Highway is permanently closed.  Anyone wishing to dispose of clean-up may take it to the Waste Disposal Site on New Bay Road . The period of May 20 to May 30, 2008 has been designated as Clean-up Period in the Town of Grand Falls - Windsor and to assist in this program, town trucks will pick up debris and refuse.  Items to be picked up will be limited to yard waste or discarded household items such as furniture, appliances, etc.  All appliances containing freon must have a sticker stating that the freon has been removed by an approved technician or it will not be picked up by town staff.

  Tree and shrub limbs will be picked up if they are cut in 5 foot maximum lengths, tied in bundles and weigh no more than 50 lbs.  All small items are to be bagged or boxed and sized for one man handling (example sawdust, wood bark, etc.)  Residents are encouraged to take all leaves and grass to the Town Compost Facility on Scott Avenue .

  The Town will not pick up construction waste, renovation waste, concrete waste, rocks, and gravel, etc. removed from properties.

  Residents are also advised that tires will not be collected and will not be accepted at the landfill site.  Tires can be returned to place of original purchase for proper disposal.

  All household hazardous waste materials should be dropped off at Centennial Field on the designated collection days.  The Town will be holding two Household Hazardous Waste Days this year on Saturday, May 31, 2008 and November 1, 2008.

  HOUSEHOLDERS SHOULD:

Ensure that appliances are certified to show that all freon has been removed.
Place all items for pick up at the curb no earlier than 48 hours prior to scheduled pick up date.

  Please have the clean-up ready on the day designated for your area.

Items placed after scheduled pick up date will not be collected.       

Council will not deviate from these regulations.

NOTE:  Residents can drop off clean-up material at the Public Works Depot on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Staff will be present to direct residents to the appropriate areas.  Household garbage will not be accepted.
