Youth Firefighter Training ProgramKidsSeniorsLearn Not To BurnStatisticsSummer Fire Prevention

This summer the Grand Falls - Windsor Fire Department has two students working with us via the SWASP program.  The two students, Andrew Butt and Amanda Fisher are actively engaging in fire prevention with throughout the town, frequently visiting playgrounds, day camps, and preschools to teach fire safety to young children.  Along with this there summer duties have included building this webpage, collecting statistical data of the towns homes regarding fire safety, creating maps of fire responses.  This program is a 8 week student work program, which rewards the students with a tuition voucher upon completion of the placement.

So far this summer the students have been actively involved in the community, spreading fire prevention to children and gathering statistical data in door-to-door surveys.  Below we can find pictures of the two in action this summer!

A presentation has been prepared by us and we encourage everyone to take a look at it.

Also take a look at some Public Service Announcements done by the SWASP students.

From August 16th to August 20th we visited Preschools accompanied by Tim Noble and a fire truck, this gave us a time to show all the kids the trucks, allowing them to enjoy a fun experience as well as learn some information regarding the trucks jobs.

So far this summer Andrew and Amanda have visited several groups at the YMCA preschool, YMCA Day care, Toy Box Preschool, and several playgrounds, playing games, activities and offering safety tips to everyone they've come into contact with.

Say hello to them when you see them in your area!
