Community History Book In 2005, the central Newfoundland town of Grand Falls-Windsor will celebrate its centenary. While many aspects of the history of the town have been recorded in various sources throughout the years, a complete story of the place and its people has never been compiled. This deluxe, hardcover book will attempt to present a full history of the town in photographs and text. The story of Grand Falls-Windsor is scheduled to be published in late 2004. More than just a reference book of facts and figures of the town's history, it will include personal reminiscences and the stories of the people and families who made Grand Falls-Windsor what it is today. Some of the areas covered include Grand Falls Station (Windsor), the paper mill, education, churches, sports, the arts, health care, businesses, the war years, and pioneer families. Grand Falls-Windsor: The Place and Its People is a must for those with roots in Grand Falls-Windsor (whether still embedded or transplanted) and for newcomers who want to know what our town is about! |
